 Mrs Gates

Designated Safeguarding Lead

Hello, my name is Mrs. Alexandra Gates and I am the Well being Designated Safeguarding Lead and Child & Family Support Worker at St Margaret’s CE School.

In my role, I work directly with children, parents/carers, teachers and external agencies, to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children at our school. I can also provide direct support and intervention, as well as access to information and advice.

Supporting Children

I also work directly with children, to support their social and emotional wellbeing. I am ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) trained, which means that I have had training from Educational Psychologists and receive ongoing supervision to help maintain high quality in the work I undertake with children. I aim to develop warm, respectful relationships with the children at St Margaret’s in order to provide a reflective space where they are able to share honestly their thoughts and feelings. Areas that I can support with include:

  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Attendance
  • Social skills
  • Emotions
  • Bereavement
  • Anger management

This is not an exhaustive list. The ELSA approach can be used to support in many areas of difficulty.

As a parent myself, I am well aware of the challenges and that we all need a little help sometimes. If you feel that you could do with some support, please get in touch.
