Mrs L Kemp (Staff)

I have worked at St Margaret’s C.E. School as an Assistant Head teacher for the past 9 years, including being the Designated Safeguarding Leader for some of this time. For the last 5 years, I have personally had the opportunity to strategically lead and develop the area of inclusion across our whole school. Integral to this, has been the role of SENCo and in 2022 I was proud to gain the NASEN qualification from Chichester University. I have had many opportunities to successfully lead whole school training for school staff and other professionals, deliver parent workshops and present information to other key stakeholders.

Prior to working at St Margaret’s, I worked as a class teacher in a variety of schools within Sussex, teaching across the primary age group for over 20 years. During this time, I developed both my teaching and leadership skills which included having responsibility for leading and driving whole school improvement in subjects such as geography and mathematics, as well as wider areas of school life including mentoring teaching students and staff. My experience also includes the role of year group leader in a very large First School in Worthing. I was responsible for developing the teaching and learning standards across the whole curriculum, leading a large group of teachers and support staff in order to do so.

I feel very privileged to work in a school where the strong Christian faith and whole school values are at the heart of everything it does, every child and adult is truly recognised and valued. I passionately believe that by listening to our children and really understanding their needs and feelings is of absolute importance. This develops their confidence, independence and ability to flourish, both spirituality, socially, emotionally and academically in the ever-changing wider world in which we live. I am extremely proud to be part of the ‘St Margaret’s’ school community, where every strategic decision made always has the children’s very best interests at heart.
