No planned closures or changes to arrangements
The following arrangements are put into operation at school, during days when we experience disruption caused by severe snow or extreme weather.
A text is sent to parents/carers by 7:45am if the school is going to close.
We kindly ask that parents/carers avoid phoning the School Office unless it is essential, to avoid overwhelming the phone lines and preventing us from making urgent calls.
Information will be posted on the school website.
If conditions deteriorate during a school day, a decision may be made to close the school early. A text will always be sent to parents/carers informing them of any changes and our website will be updated.
If you do not hear from the school, and you have checked the website, then assume it is a normal day and we are OPEN.
On days where we are OPEN, but snow/ice has caused some disruption, we will do the following:
Only open the main Pedestrian Gate next to the car park exit.
Keep the Bottom Playground green gates locked due to unsafe slope.
Reception and Y3 will enter school through the gates where they usually come out at the end of the day.
Year 1 will enter school through the silver gate and into their usual classroom doors.
Year 2, 4, 5, 6 will enter school via the silver gate near Year 1, walk through to the undercover area bordering the playground and then come in through the external hall double doors to meet their teacher.
Parents/carers should ensure that children use the gritted paths.
From 8.40am children arriving late will access classrooms directly through the main entrance.
On snow days we ask that parents/carers and children DO NOT arrive at school early, i.e. before 8.30am, and avoid congregating outside the main school entrance before classes begin. Only children who attend Breakfast Club or scheduled morning activities should arrive before 8.30am.
On snow days, if you have received a text to say the school is open but with the restrictions described above, children will not be marked late until after 9.15am. Therefore, on severe snow days, where roads are disrupted, children can arrive between 8.30am and 9.15am. This extended flexible start will help avoid congestion on the roads and pavements outside school and improve safety. If you do not receive a text, then registration is at the normal time of 8.40am.
If the school needs to close early due to deteriorating weather conditions then a text will be sent to parents/carers. The following procedures will operate:
Children will remain in their classroom
Parents/carers will access the site through the main pedestrian gate next to the car park exit and collect children from the main reception.
Thank you for your patience. We will always do everything possible to keep the school open throughout the winter without compromising the safety of your children.
