Dear Parents and Carers,
Winter has well and truly arrived this week! There was great excitement on Wednesday with the 'snow' that arrived and some disappointment too, when the children realised it wasn't quite suitable for building snowmen... During this cold and wet weather, do please ensure your child comes to school appropriately dressed for the weather. We will always try and get outside for fresh air when we can and it is important they have a named coat with them.
This Week at St Margaret’s
- As the excitement for Christmas starts to build, please take note of the events and dates over the next few weeks in school. Please see attached the 'dates for your diary' document which has some more detail about some of the events coming up this term. If in any doubt, please just ask.
- This week in Collective Worship we continued to reflect on the theme of belonging and how we show love to everyone – regardless of difference. It is important that we all encourage and remind our children that they are loved for who they are and that everyone is unique and wonderfully made, with different gifts and talents. We have been encouraging children this week to share with each other what makes them special and show acts of kindness to each other.
- I had a positive meeting with representatives from Angmering Parish Council, Arun District Council and the WSCC Highways team regarding the ongoing traffic safety concerns on the roads around school. The Council have taken several actions away, which we are hopeful will help the situation, but please can I also remind you to take extra care, particularly as the evenings draw in and visibility worsens. Please respect our neighbours too by parking legally and safely, and not blocking driveways or parking on the corners of junctions.
Looking Ahead to Next Week -
- We look forward to welcoming Year 2 parents into school for their Shine Show next Friday at 2:15pm for a 2:20pm start.
- Any entries for the Anti-bullying poster competition to be submitted by Tuesday 25th November please. Details can be viewed in last week's newsletter.
Important Notices & Attachments
- Please remember we open our school gates to all year groups and parents at 8:20am. Year 4 - 6 children are able to wait on the playground where we have a couple of members of staff supervising, but Reception to Year 3 children should be supervised by an adult until their classroom doors open at 8:30am. School starts at 8:40am.
- Please see the attachment regarding a community survey from Angmering Parish Council - a short 3 questions via the QR code on the attached leaflet.
- Thank you for all the donations made to both the Poppy Appeal and Children in Need. We raised £193.02 for the Royal British Legion and £144 for Children in Need. Thank you to everyone who donated cakes for the cake sale - always good to finish the week with a piece of cake!
- We would like to kindly remind you about the importance of children wearing a helmet when riding a bike or scooter to and from school. A properly fitted helmet is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect children from head injuries and keep them safe on their journey. Please ensure your child wears their helmet every time they scoot or cycle, and that it fits securely. We also encourage you to remind them to ride safely and be aware of others. Once through the school gates, bikes and scooters are to be dismounted and walked to the appropriate storage area to ensure everyone's safety on site. Thank you for your continued support in helping keep our school community safe.
- Chartwells Christmas Lunch Thursday 18th December (see flyer attached for the menu). Order your child's meal on ParentPay no later than Thursday 4th December and book early to avoid disappointment.
- See attachment regarding information for a Reverse Advent Calendar in support of Littlehampton Foodbank.
