Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome! We are so excited to welcome everyone back for the new school year!
It’s been wonderful to see smiling faces around school and to feel the warmth and friendliness that make St Margaret’s such a special place to be.
Our new vision and values:
This year we begin a new chapter at St Margaret’s school, with a new school vision and values, and I wanted to write to you to share this with you.
Our vision is captured in the words: “Created to Shine!” Inspired by Jesus’ teaching, “You are the light of the world, a city on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14), we believe every child is special in God’s eyes — uniquely created with gifts and potential. Our role is to nurture and encourage each child so they can grow, flourish, and let their light shine in our school, our village, and the wider world.
Flowing from this vision are our two core values:
Love – Rooted in the truth that “We love because God first loved us” (1 John 4:19). At St Margaret’s, love is shown through kindness, compassion, and respect. It shapes our daily life together, ensuring that every member of our school feels valued and cared for.
Aspire – Grounded in the belief that each child has a God-given purpose and potential. Inspired by “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13), we encourage children to aim high, grow in confidence and character, and become the best they can be
. Through Love and Aspiration, we hope St Margaret’s will continue to be a beacon of light — a place where children flourish in learning and life, and where together we make a positive difference in the world around us.
It is important that staff, pupils, and parents all work together with a shared purpose, and our vision and values are designed to help us do just that. We want St Margaret’s to stand out — to be distinctively different, a ‘city on a hill.’
Not only do we aim to provide an excellent education for every child, but we also want to be a school that visibly demonstrates God’s love in everything we do, within our school, throughout our village, and beyond.
I am really looking forward to the year ahead and working with you to provide the best possible education for every child at our school.
With best wishes, Mr Lumley
