At St Margaret's School, we pride ourselves in aspiring to create an inclusive learning environment and curriculum for all of our children, both inside and outside of the classroom. Through our whole school vision that every child is Created to Shine, we strive to nurture and celebrate the unique strengths of all of our pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Whilst at the same time, we lovingly understand and care about each child's needs and support in order to help them to aspire to achieve their very best in all that they do. Our whole school values of Love and Aspire guide the way we support our learners with SEND. This is achieved by providing well planned and highly intentional quality provision for all children, with our ultimate aim being that every child in our school personally succeeds, flourishes and excels.
Class teachers are responsible for, and carefully plan the learning and progress of all groups of children in their class. Examples of this includes pupils who have identified SEND, but also those who are academically lower attaining, have social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) difficulties, those who need support with their language, speech and communication skills, as well as pupils who have a diagnosed specific learning difficulty such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia. Our aim is to ensure that all children’s needs are met by quality first teaching, personalised planning, resourcing and differentiation, through levels of support, expectations of outcome, resources or activity. We recognise that some children may require extra support or provision of varying levels, and at different times during their primary school years whilst in our care. We have a large number of skilled Learning Support Assistants who are strategically deployed across our whole school to help deliver this support to individuals and small groups of children, under the direction of class teachers and our inclusion team.
At St Margaret's School, class teachers are supported in ensuring this planned provision meets the needs of all children, including those with SEND. This is currently led by our Inclusion Leader/SENCo (Mrs Kemp) and our Pastoral Leader (Mrs Darby).
If you have any concerns about your child’s progress or development during their time at St Margaret's School, please contact your class teacher or a member of the Inclusion team. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively with the parents/carers of every child and will discuss any concerns, intervention or outside agency referrals before any action is undertaken to ensure a collaborative relationship.
