As Inclusion Leader, I am a member of the Senior Leadership Team. I can be contacted via the main school office or by email: inclusion@stmargaretsprimary.org.uk
St Margaret’s CE Primary School is an inclusive school which focuses on the well-being and progress of every child. Our aim is that all pupils achieve their full potential- educationally, socially, emotionally and spiritually and that all children and their families feel they are successfully included in all areas of school life.
Inclusion looks at the needs of all pupils but especially children with:
❖ Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
❖ Emotional, social and behavioural concerns
❖ Disadvantaged backgrounds
❖ EAL (English as an Additional Language)
My role at St Margaret’s is to work with teachers and parents/carers to support children who require additional help due to their assessed Special Educational Need or disability. This may relate to:
Cognition and Learning - difficulties with thinking, reasoning, memory and processing information that affect a child’s ability to learn and make academic progress.
Communication and Interaction - difficulties with speech, language and communication needs or social communication difficulties.
Social, Emotional and Mental Health - difficulties with a child’s ability to manage their emotions, behaviour and mental wellbeing which impacts on their education.
Sensory and/or Physical - impairments or difficulties with a child’s senses or physical functioning, which can impact on their ability to interact with their environment and participate in daily activities and learning.
We are also aware that at any given time within any child’s life, they may be in need of extra emotional or behavioural support. There are lots of reasons why this may happen - for example,
⮚ Due to family changes
⮚ Bereavement of a family member
⮚ An illness in the family
⮚ Children who have difficulty making friends or social interactions.
I work closely with Mrs Jenna Darby, our Pastoral Support Worker. She helps children and families experiencing difficult times who need some extra support to get them back on track.
If you have any concerns about your child at school, then please contact their class teacher as a starting point. Following this, if you have further questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to come and see me, email me or have a chat with me on the playground in the morning before school.
