Early-Years

Welcome to Early Years at St Margarets

At St Margarets we provide high-quality early years education, with a strong focus on play and communication. Our team is knowledgeable about how children learn, as well as what they need to learn.

Teaching and learning is based around the child's interests and needs. All children are encouraged to become independent learners and we believe the best learning happens through fun play-based activities and moments of joy.

Our Reception year is a fun and exciting one where we build foundations so the children can make the most of their abilities and talents through their learning journey.

We provide children with a rich indoor and outdoor environment where they can learn and develop to their full potential grounded in our school values to love and aspire.

We recognise parents and carers as the first educators of their children and understand that a child's learning journey is a partnership between home and school. We have an open-door policy and seek to build strong relationships with our children and their families.

Intent

Our children continue the fast pace and exciting learning journey they have already begun, during their first year at school. We provide high-quality early years education, with a strong focus on communication based on the EYFS curriculum.

Impact

Children in the early years engage in joyful play which extends their learning and understanding and is scaffolded by quality interactions with adults that promote, model and extend children's vocabulary.

Implementation

Our team is knowledgeable about how children learn, as well as what they need to learn. Children have lots of opportunities to develop their own play and independent exploration, through our continuous provision, which is planned for by teachers, based on children's interests and White Rose maths.
