Homework

Homework at St Margaret’s

In Early Years, children do not receive formal set homework but are encouraged to read their school reading book with their grown up 5 times per week and share extra stories to encourage their love for reading.

From Year 1 – Year 5, children are set weekly homework on a Friday (to be returned the following Friday).

The homework consists of reading (5 times per week), a maths activity or practice of required mental maths recall via online games or paper-based activities, a set of spellings and an optional extra activity.

Spellings and Maths activities are planned in accordance with the curriculum and will be linked to either prior or upcoming learning.

The optional extra activity is the same across the school so that families are able to spend time together, maybe trying something that they haven’t done before.

Homework in Year 6

Homework in Year 6 is as above but will also consist of SAT's revision booklets (starting after October half term) where children will be asked to complete specific pages to aid their revision. Children in Year 6 have the opportunity to attend a homework club to support them with their homework and revision.
