Dear Parents and Carers,

This Week at St Margaret’s

  • It has been great to welcome parents into school this week for parents evening and to hear of lots of positive meetings where children's efforts and achievements have been celebrated. Our final parent evening meetings are later today (Thursday).
  • Our new school council had their first meeting - the school council will be working on shaping how we approach our charitable fundraising and giving for the year!
  • Thank you for donations of wellies and outdoor clothes for our Forest School, as well as pre-loved uniform to help stock our supply of uniform which we can offer to parents for a small donation.
  • As a school, we have signed the Let's Go Zero pledge - joining thousands of schools across the school to commit to becoming more sustainable and to aim for net zero emissions by 2030. We are in the process of putting together our Climate Action Plan and are excited to involve our whole school community in tangible actions for how we can contribute postively to loving and caring for God's creation. Watch this space!
  • Tomorrow, we celebrate our Shining Stars award for the month of October.  I know our teachers are finding it incredibly difficult to choose our next winners as so many are demonstrating our values of love and aspire every day!

Looking Ahead to Next Week - and the week after half term!

  • Next week is half term week. Please also note that school is closed to children for INSET on Monday 3rd November.
  • Please see flyer attached about our Christmas Hamper school fundraiser - in return for bringing in a donation on Friday 7th November, children can wear their own clothes to school on that day.
  • Year 6 - Cobnor residential - information evening on Tuesday 4th November 6pm.

Important Notices & Attachments

  • Please can I encourage everyone to be especially mindful of traffic and congestion on the roads around our school. It’s important that we all park safely and legally, and show consideration for our neighbours. As I am sure you will all agree, Sally does a fantastic job supporting the safe crossing of the road, but we are aware that the roads around the school can become particularly challenging, with some drivers passing through too quickly or manoeuvring unsafely around parked cars. I have written to WSCC to seek further support in making our roads safer. In the meantime, what’s within our control is to continue being mindful, patient, and safety-conscious when arriving and leaving school, helping to keep everyone in our community safe.

  • Our school community is welcome to join us for a short Remembrance Day service on Tuesday 11th November. This will start at 10:50am in the top playground. The green gates on Arundel road will be open at 10:40am ready for us to start promptly at 10:50am.

  • Attachments (see links below):  Amended 'Dates for your Diary',  Amended Clubs information,  Fireworks safety information, Winter booking for HAF programme and  Christmas Hamper School Fundraiser information.

Finally, wishing everybody in our school community a fantastic October half term break! It has been a long half term, but I am so proud of how all our children have settled into the new school year and shining brightly! Our new values and vision work is really starting to shape how we approach all areas of school life at St Margaret's, and I am excited for the term ahead and it all will bring.

Best wishes,
Mr. Lumley
