Climate Action

At St Margaret’s, we believe that caring for the world around us is part of living out our Christian value of love.

Inspired by Jesus’ words in Matthew 5 to “let your light shine,” we encourage our whole community to act with hope, care and responsibility for God’s creation.

Rooted in Love

We teach our children to value and respect the natural world, recognising that the way we care for creation is an expression of love for our neighbours and for future generations.

In Line with National Strategy

Our approach reflects the DfE Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy, which calls schools to nurture pupils who are knowledgeable, responsible and prepared to shape a sustainable future. We are proud to be part of the Let’s Go Zero campaign, working with a dedicated Climate Action Advisor to create a tailored Climate Action Plan and
embed sustainability into every aspect of school life. We are committed to becoming a zero carbon school by 2030.”

Our School Environment

We are blessed with a rich and diverse site at St Margaret’s School, with extensive school grounds. Through Forest School, outdoor learning, and nature-rich spaces, children experience the wonder of creation first-hand and develop habits of stewardship and gratitude whilst contributing positively to increasing biodiversity.

Looking Ahead

We are developing a Carbon Action Plan to guide how we care for creation in practical ways, ensuring that sustainability becomes part of daily life at St Margaret’s.  Our Faith&Wonder council will be our pupil-led group who spearhead our climate action - helping to support all children's understanding of how we can show love and care to God's world.
