Dear Parents & Carers,
Big congratulations to our Key Stage 1 children who took part in the Angmering half mile event this week. All the children who took part did really well and St Margaret's finished in 1st place! Well done!
It was great to welcome so many families along to our Open Evening this week. Thank you to all the children who helped as School Ambassadors, sung in the choir, played musical instruments, took part in sports, art, and helped with the different activities we had on show. A reminder that school is closed to pupils tomorrow, Friday 25th September for INSET day.
Next week:
- Thank you for all the amazing donations to our Community Shine Project in support of Operation Christmas Child. Next week, we would really appreciate any donations of stationery, to include pencils, colouring pencils, pencil cases, notebooks, colouring books, felt tips etc. If you have any shoeboxes that you could donate too, that would be much appreciated! The big yellow box will be out in the playground again like this week!
- Next week we celebrate Harvest and will be attending church on Tuesday 29th September for our Harvest Festival services. Years 4, 5 and 6 at 9.15am and Years 1, 3 and 3 at 10.00am. Parents and carers are welcome to attend. If you can help walk down with your child's class, please contact the class teacher using the class email.
As part of our Harvest giving, we will be having a non-school uniform day on Thursday 1st October and collecting for Littlehampton Foodbank. Any donations of tins or dried food for this charity would be much appreciated and can be brought in to school on that day. If you are not in a position to be able to donate, please don't feel any pressure. Your child can still come to school in their own clothes as we celebrate Harvest together and come together as a community to support this local charity.
- Thursday 1st October is School Census Day. It is vital that we secure the full level of funding to which we are entitled for Universal Free School Meals. The government provides funding for each child that has a free school meal on the Census dates in Years R, 1 and 2. We will order every child a meal in KS1 and your child will be offered the choice to have this meal or their packed lunch, if they have brought one in. The menu for the day is pizza or chicken goujons and chips, followed by banana bread with custard or fruit. Any child with a known allergy will not be offered something that is not suitable for their allergy.
- If your child is in Reception, don't forget that St Margaret's Church are holding a tea party at the Rectory, Church Lane, Angmering, West Sussex BN16 4JU from 2.00 - 3.00pm on Saturday 26th September. All parents, carers and children in our Reception classes are welcome to attend.
Important information & updates:
- As of Monday 28th September, when there are any last minute changes to pick up arrangements, (eg. somebody different collecting your child) you will need to email your child's class teacher on the following emails instead of contacting the School Office. The class teacher will refer to these emails at the end of the day. If an email has not been received, your child will be taken to the School Office and you will be contacted.

- As previously shared, Activ8 will be our new wraparound care provider from January 2027. I have attached a flyer to this letter with information on bookings and details of the provision.
- As we are at the beginning of the new school year, we would like to remind you of the importance of good attendance. Attending school every day helps children to settle quickly, make the best possible progress in their learning, build friendships and develop positive routines. We understand that sometimes families face challenges that can affect attendance. If you need any support or have concerns about your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help and work with you to ensure your child has the best possible start to the year. Thank you for your continued support.

- If your child is in Year 6, please remember to complete the application form for secondary school places by Saturday 31st October 2026. Any visits to open days during the school day will be authorised.

- We have relaunched our PTA - now renamed as Friends of St Margaret's School - please see the attached flyer to register your interest of being involved!
