Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to a new school year. It has been great to welcome everyone into school this week and I have been so impressed with how well the children are settling into their new classes and the new year. We are looking forward to working together to help every child grow, flourish and achieve their very best. As we begin this new term, we are reminded of our school vision, Created to Shine, and our commitment to ensuring that every member of our school community is encouraged, supported and inspired to let their unique gifts and talents shine brightly throughout the year ahead.
Each Thursday, I send out a weekly newsletter to share updates from school, celebrate highlights from the week, provide reminders for the days ahead, and communicate any important information that families need to be aware of. Wherever possible, we try to share correspondence through the newsletter rather than filling your inboxes with multiple emails throughout the week. The start of a new term is always particularly busy so please do bear with us over the next few weeks as we ensure everyone has the information they need. Our newsletters are saved onto our website so you can always go back and look for any information you may have missed.
Important updates:
- This term we have welcomed our new hot meal provider, FEED, appointed by West Sussex in place of Chartwells. We are aware there have been teething problems for some families with the ordering of food and food availability. Please be assured we are working closely with the team to resolve this and are confident it will all be running smoothly soon! On the plus side, once you get it, the food is delicious!
- Clubs will start over the next two weeks and will be available to book from 2pm this afternoon via your child’s MCAS account. Please pay particular attention to the date the clubs start and finish, as all clubs do not start on the same week.
- Forest School – we are excited to launch an enhanced forest school provision this year across the school. Please see attached letter for your child’s forest school dates and what they need to wear. If you are interested in volunteering and helping us with this provision, please contact the School Office. Our Forest School is also open at lunchtimes for our children all to enjoy.
- This year, children from Year 1 to Year 6 will come to school wearing PE kit. Reminder of days:
Year 1 Wednesdays and Thursdays
Year 2 Mondays and Thursdays
Year 3 Tuesdays and Fridays
Year 4 Thursdays and Fridays
Year 5 Tuesdays and Fridays
Year 6 Mondays and Wednesdays
- Dates for your Diary – this is a document we send to parents with upcoming dates for your diary for the term ahead. This will be published next week.
- This year we have started to use Tapestry instead of Seesaw. Parents of children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 will have access to this. In Key Stage 2 we use this internally, rather than as a communication tool with parents.
- Meet the teacher- this is an opportunity to come into school and hear from your child's new teacher about the year ahead.
Tuesday 8th September 2.30 – 2.50pm for Years 3 - 6
Wednesday 9th September 2.30 – 2.50pm for Years 1 and 2
Best wishes,
Mr Lumley
