Thursday 14th May 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are almost at the end of the first half of the summer term already, which just doesn't seem possible!

You may have seen the letter that was sent earlier in the week informing you of our SIAMS school inspection next week. This is the Church of England Schools inspection process, through which we will be assessed on how our vision and values shape our practice and positively impact our children, staff and families, enabling everybody to flourish. Please refer to the letter sent earlier this week for more information.

This Week at St Margaret’s

  • Big congratulations to all of our wonderful Year 6 children who have now completed their SATS assessments. This is a huge achievement and milestone in their primary education. The children have worked so hard and we are incredibly proud of their efforts and how they have truly lived out our values of Love and Aspire this week. They have supported each other, treated each other with kindness, and have worked their socks off! Well done to everyone involved, and a big thank you to the staff team too, for all their support and encouragement along the way.
  • On Wednesday, I had a brilliant time eating lunch with children from different classes in the hall.  Our new structure is working really well.  The manners, conversations, and positive environment were great to see, and it is so important that lunchtime is such a positive time for our children.

Next Week at St Margaret's

  • Walk to School week starting next Monday 18th May. The School Council have prepared some activities to encourage this next week, including a daily count to see how many people are able to walk to school each day and 5 key messages for the school as to why it is important to consider walking to school. We have attached some of the key reasons to this newsletter and hope that as many of you as possible can walk, cycle or scoot to school. 'Park and stride' is also an option for those who live a bit further away!
  • School Discos Tuesday 19th May.  Our School Council have organised this as a fundraiser for their chosen charities. Please see attached information.
  • Wednesday 20th May is the deadline for pre-ordering the book "What's Up" by Joanna Adeyinka-Burford via your MCAS app.  Cost £10.00.
  • We are excited about our May Day celebrations which will be held during the afternoon of Friday 22nd May.  Please see the attached letter from Mrs Keates and Mrs Parris about the event. (I have been assured it won't rain this year...)

Important Notices & Attachments

  • Mary Ballingal, one of our Teachers in Charge of the Tomlin Centre, will be starting maternity leave in July.  I'm sure you will all join me in congratulating her on this exciting news, and wishing her all the best.
