Supporting Young Carers

We are committed to identifying and supporting Young Carers within our school community. A Young Carer is a child who helps to care for a family member who may have a disability, long‑term illness, mental health need, or substance misuse issue. We recognise that caring responsibilities can have a significant impact on a child’s wellbeing, attendance, and learning.

Our approach includes:

  • Ensuring staff are trained to recognise the signs that a child may be a Young Carer.

  • Providing pastoral support, adjustments, and additional help where needed.

  • Working in partnership with local Young Carers services to ensure families receive appropriate guidance and specialist support.

  • Creating a safe, understanding environment where Young Carers feel listened to and supported.
