Thursday 22nd January 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

One of the best bits of my job is getting to see children from across the school proudly sharing their work with me. It is so great to see all the progress that our children make and to have that opportunity to share and celebrate their efforts with them.  This week we have been exploring our value Aspire by thinking about a verse from the Bible that encourages people to give their best in whatever they do - Colossians 3:23 - “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…” . It has helped us to reflect on aiming high, trying our best and recognising the potential and gifts we have been given by God.

This Week at St Margaret’s

- Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 4 children, who represented the school this week at The Angmering School. Firstly on Monday in the Indoor Athletics competition, and then on Tuesday at the Boys Football tournament. It is great to see lots of children take part and to aspire to do their best, working hard as a team. Well done everyone.

- You will have seen the parking wardens standing outside school yesterday. Please can I ask for your support in keeping our children and road users safe, by ensuring you park safely and legally. Please do not move the cones which have been placed to ensure people's safety and avoid parking where you might obstruct through traffic, particularly near the bollard passing point. Thank you for your support with this.

- It has been wonderful to see lots of volunteers come forward to help with various things in school this term already - from reading with children, helping out in classrooms and supporting with Forest School - I am really grateful! If you would like to find out more about volunteering at school, please let me know.

- Year 6 SATS parents information session reminder - today at 2pm.

- St Margaret's Got Talent application deadline is tomorrow - Friday 23rd January. See attached.

- Parents Evening booking for Tuesday 10th February and Thursday 12th February goes live at 7pm this evening. To book an appointment to see your child's class teacher, use your My Child at School app on your phone. If you have not yet set up your MCAS app, and you need an access code, please contact the school office.

Looking Ahead to Next Week

- Year 5 and Year 6 Indoor Athletics Competition at the Angmering School - Monday 26th January - letters to be returned to Miss Norcross please.

- Tomorrow, Friday 23rd January, we’ll be sending letters to families where children’s attendance has fallen below 92%. It’s easy to think of 80% or 90% as strong figures, but in terms of time in school it can add up to a significant amount of lost learning. For example, 80% attendance over the course of primary school equates to more than a full year of missed education, and 90% means a child will have missed a year by the age of 15.
These letters aren’t meant to worry you. Their purpose is simply to keep you informed and to help us work together to support your child’s attendance. If you’d like to talk anything through, please speak with your child’s teacher, or with Ms Dark, Mrs Darby, or myself.
