Sporting Success

Key Stage 1 Multi skills competition at The Angmering School

Year 1 and 2 were AMAZING. We took part in 10 different skills and every one involved was brilliant in attempting them. We had some very nervous boys and girls but they all got stuck in and had a really good time. In the end we came 3rd out of 8 teams and I was so proud of them.  All the children jumped for joy when they heard that they came 3rd!

What a performance!  That was the best the boys have played all season.  They were passing and moving the ball really well, strong in defence and solid going forward. It was truly a great performance. Charlie scored a brilliant goal in the first half which was helped by some brilliant team work in building the play up. East Preston were strong but St Margaret's were stronger in all areas. Adam pulled off some brilliant saves.  Luca, Will and Elliot were excellent in defence. Toby and Charlie won the battle in the center of midfield. Alfie and Mike were strong on the wings. Caleb and Cameron were amazing in attack. The second half was the same and we continued to battle right to the end.  The final score was 1-0 to St Margaret's.  Winners!

Well played all.

XCountry Finals at Windlesham House

Friday 8th February 2019

It is a very difficult course as there are many hills and it is a longer course than the Angmering Mile, which the children are are used to. The weather was not in our favour on Friday and yet the runners were still so positive and enthusiastic whilst being attacked by driving rain and high winds!

The girls race was first and our girls had a solid start, finding their place amongst over 100 other runners. There were many county runners in the event and a lot were Year 6, whereas our girls team was made up of all Year 5 and one Year 4. They were amazing and pushed themselves so hard through the hardest course and the toughest weather. Katie was our first runner back coming in at 47th, followed by Amy (Year 4) coming in at 52nd place, Connie came 67th and Lily 88th. Our final two runners, Ellie and Rachel, did an amazing job completing the course and although they came in near the back their perseverance and determination was fantastic.

The boys race then started, and again all the boys had a great start. A special mention needs to made to Caleb who came in 19th place (just short of the qualifying place for the regional finals event). The rest of the places were:

Jake L 39th,Michael R 45th,Toby M-B 47th,Deion W 55th,Charlie M 93rd,James S 95th and Samuel W 100th

The school should be really proud of these children as they were competing against the best in the Southern Area (this covers all of West Sussex). As the organisers said on the day - they are already the best 100 runners in the Southern Area.

I think that with some more training the current Year 5's will be able to do even better next year and hopefully we can get a few of them in the Regional finals.

It was a pleasure to take them.
